Abstract

The paper presents the basic features of therapeutic management of children with atheotic derangement. The first step consists of functional occupational therapy (playing under guidance of a therapist, training in directed gripping, active exercises for rough and specific coordination of hands and fingers) followed by training in skills of daily living: undressing, dressing, eating and personal hygiene. Adequate level of functional and psychical capacity of the child constitutes the basis for implementation of the individual-oriented habilitation programme. The results of the adjusted training programme utilizing appropriate therapeutic and motivation procedures exceed those yielded by inadapted programmes by 30 %.
