Abstract

Occupational therapy is a special farm and method of work aimed at maintenance and improvement of physical and mental capacities of the elderly as well as at rendering their life in the home more colourful. Priority is given to work in groups. New members of the home community, however, need individual management. The paper describes the duties which are regularly dealt with by all the community members on their weekly meetings. Same of them help with easy household work, compose and wrap various industrial products or take part in the groups engaged in morning gymnastics, handicraft adtivities, photography and singing. The home community issue their own organ, prepare reading sessions and various social meetings. The efficiency of occupational therapy in the home for elderly does not depend only on the efforts of the occupational therapist, but to a great extent on cooperation of the entire home collective.
