Abstract

Malaria is the most important and most common tropical disease. It is a medical emergency, which can rapidly develop complications and end fatal, if not treated immediately and properly. In general patients with severe malaria are in general treated in an intensive care unit and need continuously monitoring of vital functions. In the article are reviewed possible complications in patients with severe malaria. Nurses need to recognize these complications of malaria in order to properly evaluate patient condition, react properly in case of worsening and provide appropriate medical care.
