Abstract

The article deals with living conditions in a home for the elderly and their impact on safety and well-being of the clients. For healthy old age and healthy aging, immediate and broader living space are of utmost importance. The clients in the homes of the elderly often suffer from more functional disorders as a consequence of their impaired health condition. With the research study carried out in the home for the elderly in Ljubljana – Siska we wanted to confirm the assumption that immediate living space is of utmost importance for providing safety, folowed by conscientiousness and friendly attitude of the staff, quality food and cleanliness. The results also showed that an important role in providing safety has to be taken over by the health care staff working in the home for the elderly.
