Bibliometric survey of the slovenian nursing association journal
Abstract
The article is a part of an extensive bibliometric and content survey of the Journal of the Slovenian Nursing Association (JSNA). In the first part of the article the historical development of the journal is presented, where as the second part, i.e. the empirical research, focuses on the first two authors, cited sources, the content of the articles and the classification of articles in the JSNA. The analysis is based on 988 papers published in the Articles section between 1976 and 2006. 98 % of the authors are of the Slovene origin. The most frequent affiliation of authors is the Ljubljana Clinical Center; most authors come from Ljubljana and Maribor. The results of the paper classification show that the majority of papers can be classified as professional papers/articles, however, the trend in the recent years has changed in favour of scientific papers/articles (i. e. 62 %). In the last 30 years the authors cited 9.638 bibliographic sources. 31 % of the sources are classified as professional and scientific journals, especially in the last five years. Nursing care, a nurse and nursing care education are the most frequent words describing the content of the papers. All data show the increasing development of nursing care as a profession and a distinctive scientific research work in the field. The merit can be ascribed to the increasing number of nurses with a university degree and/or postgraduate education as well.Downloads
