The article briefly describes anatomy, physiology, function of pelvic floor muscles and the aim of pelvic floor muscle training in women with stress and urge urinary incontinence. The importance of assessment of a correct voluntary pelvic floor muscle contraction as a condition for the effectiveness of pelvic floor muscle training is stressed. The value of the person’s-specific pelvic floor muscle training programme is presented. General principles of muscle training are evaluated and the application of these principles on the pelvic floor muscle training is underlined. Recommendation for the pelvic floor muscle training in women with urinary incontinence, based on scientific evidence from the literature are given.Downloads
