Reducing violence against nurses at work place in slovenia

The article deals with different forms of violence against nurses, nursing technicians and midwifes at work place in Slovenia. The introduction defines concepts of violence which were being empirically tested by means of an inquiry on a representative sample in 1999. The research was performed in the frames of the Association of Slovenian Nurses and Nursing Technicians. 376 valid questionnaires were analysed, and the following dimensions of the phenomenon illustrated: frequency, location, time, kinds and perpetrators experienced by nurses at their work place. In the end, the results of a one year action research project; one of its consequences was the organization of a professional meeting of the Association of Nurses and Nursing Technicians Ljubljana, proceedings, foundation of the institute of the ombudsman for nurses’ rights for the field of nursing and the task force for non-violence in nursing.Downloads
