The use of models and theories of nursing care in midwifery
Abstract
From the very beginning of the education of midwives on high education level in Slovenia, both the process method of work and the theory of nursing care of Virginia Henderson are being used. The article describes the models and theories of nursing care used elsewhere and tries to elucidate the differences between the profession of nursing and the profession of midwifery in the light of their different development paths and the specific of their respecive fields of work. As well, mutual points and practical uses of theoretical principles of nursing care in midwifery are described. In the conclusion, the attempt to develop the model and theory of midwifery which could be used during labour, are described.Downloads
