Abstract
An annoying companion of modern way of life is also stress which is a phenomenon of high aspiring society to which also students of nursing care belong. Students must comply with the requirements from outside and are at the same time confronted with their own capabilities and interests. Symptoms of stress are manifested in many different ways and can cause serious health problems. In order to find out the agents of stress among students, research study was carried out on College of Health Studies, University of Ljubljana which enabled a closer look at the above mentioned problems. In the quantitative part of the study, 101 students participated. After their division into four categories, the following sources of stress are revealed: 24,2 % intrapersonal, 18,7 % interpersonal, 40,9 % school-work, 16,2 % broader environment. Most often met stress factors regardless of the category are the following: school (21,8 %), exams (7,4 %), overburdening at school or at work (7,0 %), family problems (6,7 %), fast tempo of living (5,3 %), money (5,1 %), fights with close ones (4,6 %), early rising and problems with partner (3,9 %). Verbal part for the qualitative analysis was derived form five partly structured interviews. Three categories were recognized: stressors, signs and reactions. Inside separate categories, several dimensions were defined. One of the key findings could be the fact that stress in its theoretical component can not be divided from its contextual phenomena and experiences. The results are multilayered and deepen the problems of stress among students from the experiencing point of view. The article wants to point out the presence of several factors of stress among the student population and entices the reflection upon solutions for diminishing and eliminating the problems met by the researched population.Downloads
